I'm writing to all of my representatives today. I keep reading about Republican Congress people threatening to object to the electoral vote. Please try to speak those that are planning that.
Try to explain to them that the people of the United States have voted. By questioning the results, that have been upheld in many courts, including the Attorney General and the Supreme Court, they are playing with fire. The ramifications that our elections are not fair and have been compromised, without any facts or proof, will have effects that that ripple through our democracy. We will look weak to both our allies and our enemies. Our own people will not believe the outcome of elections which will reduce participation in them.
Donald Trump lost the election fairly. We the People have spoken. It's time to accept that Joe Biden will be the next President. Just because some don't like the outcome of the election, that doesn't give them the right to overrule it or question it. Explain to your colleagues that this will open a can of worms that won't be able to be closed. Everyone that loses an election will be question its validity. Think about Trump's win in 2016. Clinton won the popular vote, but lost electorally. She could have sued, said she won. But she conceded the next day.
Trump is making a mockery of our system and those that support and agree to try to invalidate the election are doing more to damage our country than anything they think the democrats could do.
Please speak to your colleagues. Senators Toomey and Casey, Representative Wild, thank you for standing strong for your state, your country, and your principles.
