Demand Immediate Release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia — End Retaliatory ICE Detention

I am writing to express my outrage over the detention of Kilmar Abrego Garcia by ICE this morning in Baltimore. Mr. Abrego Garcia was told he was attending a routine check-in, yet was taken into custody without explanation or documentation. This is a clear abuse of power by the Trump administration and a betrayal of public trust.
Earlier this year, Mr. Abrego Garcia was wrongfully deported to El Salvador in violation of a 2019 court order. After being released from criminal custody and reunited with his family, he is now being targeted again—this time with threats of deportation to Uganda, a country with which he has no connection and where his safety cannot be assured.
This pattern of coercion and retaliation—pressuring individuals to accept plea deals in exchange for deportation, detaining them during scheduled interviews, and disregarding judicial oversight—is unacceptable. Mr. Abrego Garcia is being punished for asserting his rights and refusing to plead guilty to charges he denies.
I urge you to take immediate action to secure Mr. Abrego Garcia’s release and to hold ICE accountable for its unethical and retaliatory practices. This case is emblematic of a broader crisis in our immigration system, and your leadership is urgently needed.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your swift response and public commitment to justice.
