WHAT NEXT?

Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas. Independence Day weekend. Tomorrow is a day to contemplate our country. And to honor all the efforts that made America the best country in the world. Isn’t it unfortunate that we currently appear to be quite happy to throw the idea of America on the trash heap? Right now we get to see, in real time, elected officials throwing their efforts behind a not-so-subtle sentiment to overthrow the very government, country, and citizenry they were elected to serve. We get to see elected officials, instead of doing their duty by staying in DC to vote on a commission to investigate the thwarted effort to overthrow our 2020 presidential election, instead travel to our southern border for a cheap photo-op with their ‘real’ president. The man who has wrecked their party, lost them the Senate, lost them the Presidency, and continues to play bully politics with their, and your, political futures. For that opportunity, those folks got to appear to give a big middle finger to the country. But at least a few of them got to get social media posts with a real, live January 6 insurrectionist. What a proud day, and even better visual, for the GOP. All of that while your ‘real’ president is about to undergo a legal examination of his business dealings. The law is not swayed by cries of witch hunt or mean Democrats. As your party is so fond of saying, personal responsibility is a virtue. And karma is a bitch. We also see how even more pervasive were the attempts by the Trump administration, and Mr. Trump himself, to stop the ballot counting in AZ. Records released by the Arizona Republic paint a damning picture. Just because vile actions occur in the open doesn’t make them any less vile Are y’all okay with all this? In Texas you are able to sustain your echo chamber. But the majority of the country is absolutely not okay with any of what we’ve been seeing. And the icing on the cake is Mr. McCarthy’s bad faith bet in trying to squelch a January 6 commission. Now he’s painted himself into a corner, with empty threats the only tools left to him. In the immortal worlds of Adam Kinzinger “Who gives a s&*t?” Y’all should, that’s who.
