An open letter to the U.S. Congress

NO TROOPS on our streets!

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

As your constituent, I'm writing to condemn President Trump's recent domestic military deployments, as well as his reported plans to deploy even more military troops into our communities over governors' objections – and I'm calling on you to block these unnecessary, inflammatory, and dangerous abuses of power. President Trump's escalating threats to send troops into Chicago, Baltimore, and other cities directly undermine our foundational value as a nation that the military should not be policing civilians, create legal jeopardy for service members, and put regular people going about their lives at high risk of having their rights violated. National Guard troops are being pulled from their communities to carry out the administration's extreme political agenda. Make no mistake: President Trump is manufacturing 'emergencies' to expand his power and create fear in major American cities. Sending military troops and armed federal agents into our communities is unjustified and dangerous. I urge you to block the deployment of National Guard or other military troops to L.A., D.C., and elsewhere, and to hold the Trump administration accountable for any abuses that stem from these activations.
