Demand for Immediate Ceasefire and Congressional Oversight of Operations in Iran

I am writing to you today as your constituent to express my absolute disgust and outrage regarding the ongoing unprovoked bombing of Iran. The administration’s decision to launch these attacks without a formal declaration of war or specific Congressional authorization is a flagrant power grab that bypasses the checks and balances essential to our democracy.
The justifications provided by the executive branch—claiming an "imminent threat" while simultaneously touting the "obliteration" of Iran’s nuclear program just months ago—are contradictory and lack transparency. We are seeing a repeat of the same intelligence failures and "regime change" rhetoric that led to the disastrous Iraq War, and the human cost is already mounting:
-- Civilian Casualties: Reports indicate that nearly 150 people, including dozens of schoolgirls, were killed in a strike on a primary school in Minab. This is a humanitarian catastrophe that does not make America safer.
-- American Lives: This escalation has already directly led to the deaths of at least four U.S. service members. By initiating this conflict, the administration has placed our soldiers in the line of fire for a war of choice, not necessity.
-- Constitutional Duty: Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution grants Congress—not the President—the power to declare war. Your silence while the executive branch orders "decapitation strikes" and decimation of another nation’s leadership is a dereliction of your duty to the oath you took.
I demand that you return to Washington immediately to invoke the War Powers Resolution and force a halt to these attacks. We cannot afford another "endless war" built on shifting justifications. We the people deserve a representative who will rein in executive overreach before the entire Middle East is further destabilized.
I look forward to hearing your specific plan to restore Congressional oversight of this military action.
