Oppose Confirming Casey Means as Surgeon General due to her Ethical Violations

I am writing to you as a constituent to express my strong opposition to the confirmation of Dr. Casey Means as U.S. Surgeon General. While I am deeply concerned with her complete lack of any real experience in public health or practicing medicine, I am also very disturbed by the pattern of deceptive financial behavior she demonstrated as a wellness influencer. The Surgeon General is the "Nation’s Doctor," a role that relies entirely on public trust and moral authority. However, recent investigations by Public Citizen and reports presented during her February confirmation hearing demonstrate a systemic concealment of financial interests: -- Failure to Disclose Financial Ties: Evidence indicates that Dr. Means failed to disclose her financial interest in roughly 56% of the products she promoted to her followers. -- Active Deception: In instances regarding brands like WeNatal, Dr. Means explicitly claimed to have "no financial relationship" with the company, despite ethics filings showing she was receiving affiliate compensation at that very time. -- Promotion of Unsafe Products: Reports from Rolling Stone and others have highlighted that several of her paid sponsors sold products later found to contain hazardous levels of lead, cadmium, or "forever chemicals" (PFAS). A nominee who has spent years profiting from "stealth marketing" and misleading the public for personal financial gain does not possess the integrity required for a high-ranking government office. We cannot have a Surgeon General whose primary career has been built on the very "conflicts of interest" the administration claims it wants to root out. I urge you to vote against her confirmation to protect the integrity of our nation’s public health institutions.
