Protect Alaska library services through federal funding

Libraries provide invaluable resources and services for communities across Alaska. The dismantling of the Institute of Museum and Library Services would cripple the state's ability to maintain key programs such as Books by Mail, the Alaska Digital Library, the statewide summer reading program, and services for those with disabilities. Without federal funding of $1.27 million this year, libraries face unacceptable cuts starting July 1st. This will disproportionately harm rural areas and increase costs for larger libraries. Libraries are essential for education, literacy, and access to information. I urge you to take immediate action to prevent this devastating loss of library services that enrich and empower Alaskans of all ages and backgrounds. Funding the Institute is a wise investment in our communities.
