Oppose Military Action in Iran - Majority of Americans Against War

A recent NPR/PBS News/Marist poll conducted with 1,591 Americans shows that 56% of the public opposes the military action in Iran. Only 36% approve of President Trump's handling of Iran, down from 42% approval after the January 2020 Qassem Soleimani drone strike. These numbers should concern anyone facing voters in the upcoming midterm elections. The opposition crosses party lines in ways that matter electorally. While 84% of Republicans support the action, 61% of independents oppose it, and 59% disapprove of the President's Iran handling. Among younger voters aged 18-29, opposition reaches 64% with only 25% approving of Trump's approach. Gen Z voters show just 24% approval. These are the voters who will determine midterm outcomes. The strikes on February 28 that killed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other top military leaders represent a massive escalation. Yet 55% of Americans view Iran as either only a minor threat or no threat at all. The administration has offered varied justifications for these attacks, but the public remains unconvinced. I am asking you to oppose further military action in Iran and to use your oversight authority to demand clear justification for the strikes that have already occurred. The American people do not support this war. Women oppose military action 59% to 41%. Black voters oppose it at 68% and Latino voters at 60%. College-educated voters oppose it 61% to 38%. Congress has the constitutional authority to check executive military action. With midterm elections approaching, voters will remember whether you stood with them or with an unpopular war. I need to know where you stand on this issue and whether you will vote to constrain further military escalation in Iran.
