I am your constituent and I want you to know that another woman was refused an emergency abortion and developed sepsis. She was told by doctors that even though her pregnancy was not viable, she should go home and miscarry or try another medical facility, because their religion won’t let them save her health or life. Do you know how much time you have between developing sepsis and organ failure? 12 hours - that’s it.
Of course, if we passed Universal Healthcare, like H.R. 3069, we wouldn’t be having this discussion at all.
I want you to restore the EMTALA guidance that Trump rescinded. Previously if a pregnant person presented in crisis doctors were allowed to perform the abortion needed to help the patient - not send her home with a bucket and towel. There is a link to that guidance below.
Then I want you to enact the Women’s Health Protection Act to restore abortion rights nationwide. How many women have to lose their fertility, wind up in the ICU or die?
