Reject Any Consideration of a Third Presidential Term

I am writing to urge you to publicly and unequivocally reject any possibility of President Trump serving a third term, regardless of the legal theories being floated by his advisors.
The 22nd Amendment to the Constitution is clear: no person shall be elected to the office of President more than twice. This amendment was ratified in 1951 as a safeguard against the concentration of executive power and to preserve the democratic principle of peaceful transitions of leadership. There is no ambiguity here that warrants exploration or debate.
Recent statements from the White House, including spokesperson Abigail Jackson's comment that "The American people would be lucky to have President Trump in office for even longer," combined with lawyer Alan Dershowitz's upcoming book examining whether Trump could constitutionally serve a third term, represent a dangerous normalization of what should be a non-issue. Dershowitz has even discussed scenarios involving Electoral College members abstaining from votes to potentially leave the decision to Congress. These are not theoretical exercises. They erode public confidence in our constitutional guardrails.
While Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has suggested Trump is merely "having fun" and "driving people crazy," and House Speaker Mike Johnson stated he doesn't "see the path" for a 2028 bid, these dismissals are insufficient. The Trump Store is already selling "Trump 2028" hats, and the president himself has stated he's "not joking" about a third term and would "love" to run again.
Constitutional limits on presidential terms are not suggestions to be tested or boundaries to be pushed for political entertainment. I ask that you make a clear public statement affirming that the 22nd Amendment is settled law, that no president may serve more than two elected terms, and that any attempt to circumvent this constitutional provision would be unacceptable. Our democracy depends on leaders who defend its foundations without equivocation.
