Oppose H.R. 38 - No To More Dangerous Concealed Carry Laws!

Today I take pen in hand to urge you to OPPOSE H.R. 38, The Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. Weakening Gun Safety is not acceptable.
Driven entirely by special interests like the NRA, this legislation would essentially allow people that are permitted to carry concealed weapons in their home state to carry them across state lines. Although the superficial intention might be to allow hunters to visit other states, it’s very easy to see how this could be dangerously abused by people of ill intent, or the mentally ill, domestic abusers, and dangerous militias.
More reasons to vote no that are self-evident to anyone:
1. Popular gun safety measures adopted by states would be subject to the overreach of this legislation should it become law.
2. It would allow people to carry their handguns in school zones and federally owned lands open to the public. The potential for tragedy in those areas is well documented.
3. Law enforcement would effectively lose some power to enforce their own state and local laws. This is overreach in my book.
I can’t understand why any police organization would want this, because quite frankly, it complicates their jobs. The paramilitary militias vowing to ‘protect the border’ will undoubtedly take advantage, and spread fear in their wake.
While I believe the vast majority of gun owners are law-abiding, and do have the right to own a gun, enough is enough. We need more common sense gun safety laws, not ones that could be exploited for nefarious purposes. I urge you to oppose and Vote NO on the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. Thank you.
