An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Preserve judicial independence, reject court elimination proposals

41 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

The proposal to eliminate federal courts undermines the system of checks and balances enshrined in the Constitution. The judiciary serves as an essential counterweight to the legislative and executive branches, providing an impartial forum to uphold the rule of law and protect individual rights. Abolishing courts due to unfavorable rulings would concentrate power in a dangerous manner and erode the foundations of American democracy. As a co-equal branch of government, the federal courts must remain independent to fulfill their vital role. I urge you to reject any efforts to dismantle this crucial institution and instead uphold your oath to defend the Constitution.
