THE FIRE YOU’RE FEEDING IS GOING TO BURN DOWN AMERICA

While we dither here there and everywhere, a WaPo analysis today showed the degree to which the Trump administration is ignoring the rulings of our court system. You should read it. An analysis of hundreds of lawsuits against Trump policies shows dozens of examples of defiance. Delay. Dishonesty. And an unprecedented threat to the U.S. legal system. Plaintiffs say DOJ lawyers and the agencies they represent are snubbing rulings, providing false information, failing to turn over evidence, quietly working around court orders and inventing pretexts to carry out actions that have been blocked. Courts have traditionally assumed public officials, and the DOJ in particular, are acting honestly, lawfully and in good faith. Since Trump returned to the White House, however, judges have increasingly questioned whether government lawyers are meeting that standard. Legal experts also say there is likely another factor at work that makes it especially difficult to hold the administration to account. 
“The courts can’t enforce their own rulings — that has to be done by the executive branch.” See where this is going? The GOP Congress willingly ceded their co-equal power. The judiciary is fighting to not concede theirs. But we see what happens when good people stand by expecting someone else to save the day. Ignoring the judiciary. Ignoring our laws. Ignoring enforcement. Acting in bad fatith. Lying. Obfuscating. Gaslighting. Toying with the very foundations of our system of government. And of democracy. As polls consistently show that we the people do not want the type of cruel and lawless governance we get every day from the Trump administration, the only assumption to be made by constituents is that a good majority of our elected representation no longer believes in democracy for America. They are on board for letting it be torn down. Aiding and abetting in their complicity. And saying they are reflecting the will of the people. This is a lie, told over and over. Every day the hole in the dike gets bigger. Every day a bit more freedom gets taken away. Every day we adapt to less of everything that makes America, America. Every day the Trump administration figures out another way to subvert our systems. And the GOP Congress does nothing. Tsk tsk. You can never ever say you weren’t warned in a thousand different ways.
