Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to fully fund OSHA and restore staff levels. We have to do this to restore workplace safety inspections — fully and without delay.
Workers across the country are showing up to jobs every day without the basic protections that regular inspections provide, and that is a both a failure of Republican policy that you have the power to fix.
The growth in demand across the food chain means that bigger snd bigger industrial farming and processing means a higher need for inspections, just to keep up.
When inspections are cut or suspended, injuries go up. It's that simple. Employers who cut corners on safety do so because they can, and without inspectors on the ground, there is no accountability.
Workers shouldn't have to choose between their paycheck and their physical wellbeing, especially with the state of our healthcare system.
I’m urging you to prioritize worker safety: Bring back robust, fully funded safety inspections.
Vote to restore and reform outmoded programs, secure the funding it needs during the budget cycle and make sure enforcement has real teeth. The people doing the work deserve to come home safe.
Industry doesn’t care about workers lives and health, so our government must.
No money for ICE. Put the money towards robust safety and health inspections, and restore staffing cut by Republican policies.
Thank you.
