An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Texas only)

Stop Texas Insurance Gouging!

13 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

My family and I are your constituents. Texans like us are paying WAY too much for our homeowners and auto insurance, and I am asking you to use your power to make sure insurance companies STOP price gouging us. Did you know Texas policyholders pay more than twice the national average? That has got to stop! Our family budget can’t take these CONSTANT rate hikes! The insurance industry has way too much power in our state! We need you to change our laws to give the Texas Department of Insurance the ability to review rates before they go into effect, protecting us from overcharges. Lawmakers should receive reports on how often TDI is challenging insurance rate filings to ensure they are doing everything they can to keep rates as low as possible. And the Legislature should order a review of all homeowners and auto insurance rates in our state so TDI can identify any overcharges and return those dollars to policyholders. If insurers won't cooperate, we need to call an emergency session of the legislature and re-regulate them! We need to keep Texas an affordable place to live. That’s part of what makes this a great state. Please act to protect policyholders from insurance overcharges!
