An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Deny DOGE access to IRS data, protect taxpayer privacy

14 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

<message> Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has requested access to the IRS's Integrated Data Retrieval System, which contains the most intimate personal tax information of millions of Americans. Granting DOGE access to this repository of highly sensitive data poses a severe threat to individual privacy and could enable unprecedented abuses of power through the misuse or exploitation of citizens' confidential financial details. While DOGE claims transparency, the catastrophic risks of exposing the private lives of Americans on this grand scale cannot be overstated and drastically outweigh any purported benefits. I urgently implore you to deny DOGE's request and resolutely safeguard the confidentiality of taxpayer data entrusted to the IRS. Protecting the sacred privacy rights of citizens must be the paramount priority over any misguided efficiency crusade that could inflict irreversible damage by compromising personal information on a national scale. </message>
