Say No to a Standing Army for Civilian Control: Defend the Constitution Now!

The Trump administration is actively implementing what amounts to martial law without officially declaring it. A full-time Domestic Civil Disturbance Quick Reaction Force has been established. Six hundred National Guard troops are now on constant standby, ready to deploy into American cities in response to protests.
This is a direct attack on the long-standing separation between civilian law enforcement and the military. The Posse Comitatus Act was created to prevent the use of the military to police civilians. Now that line is being crossed. Under federal control, these troops answer directly to the president, bypassing local authorities and accountability. This opens the door for political abuse, allowing deployment against protests the administration opposes, while ignoring unrest aligned with its allies, just like we saw on January 6.
This military force is not about safety. It’s about silencing dissent and consolidating control. A permanent domestic military presence chills free speech and deters lawful protest. Once normalized, these powers rarely disappear. Congress must act now. End this dangerous deployment. Reinforce the separation between the military and civilian life. Protect our Constitution and the rights of every American before this becomes the new normal.
