An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Extend Benefits for Permanently Displaced Airline Workers

5 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

When Spirit Airlines shut down abruptly, 17,000 employees lost life-saving healthcare and paychecks overnight. My family is directly affected by this. Many of us are primary caregivers and are now unable to provide for our families. I'm urging you to support an amendment offered by Senator Sanders in the budget reconciliation bill that extends unemployment benefits plus for 12 months with a plus up of $600 to help cover healthcare costs. This language is for all aviation workers who lost their job due to an airline closure in 2026. While some would say it will be impossible for us to get this healthcare and wage assistance, this is not our Spirit, and we will continue to fight and urge you to support your constituents.
