I urge you in the strongest possible terms to oppose H.R. 4, the Rescissions Act of 2025, as it will have detrimental consequences for global health programs, humanitarian assistance, and international cooperation.
The term rescission is a fancy way of saying REPEAL which is a disguise word by Republicans in Congress for the very real damage to the contract the United States has made with the world.
To aim high and be a leader for positive change, peace, and human rights across the world. We often fail to achieve what we say, but this bill takes us further and further away from any ideals worth having.
This bill will lower our status, discard even our flawed attempts at being that great nation. It lowers us to the mean, grubbing, thugs of the Trump administration. It will unravel peaceful cooperation as Trump has already done. We become a nuclear-powered pariah state to our long time allies, and developing countries that we have helped in the past.
I can’t express how horrible and dystopian that crappy vision of Trump, the Heritage Society and the freaks and demented people of this administration is.
In plainer terms, this bill seeks to REPEAL $3.5 billion in previously allocated funds, jeopardizing vital initiatives aimed at promoting health, addressing complex crises, supporting democracy, and providing disaster relief worldwide.
The proposed cuts would significantly undermine the United States' ability to respond to global challenges and fulfill its commitments to international organizations and peacekeeping efforts.
1. By slashing funding for global health programs by $900 million, this bill threatens progress made in combating diseases and improving access to healthcare in vulnerable communities.
2. Moreover, rescinding $800 million from the Migration and Refugee Assistance program would hinder our capacity to provide aid to displaced populations fleeing conflict or natural disasters.
3. Additionally, the bill's rescission of $1.65 billion from the Economic Support Fund and $2.5 billion from Development Assistance would cripple our efforts to promote economic growth, foster democratic institutions, and support sustainable development in regions facing poverty and instability.
While fiscal responsibility is important, I’ll say it again, that these draconian cuts undermine American leadership and values on the global stage. We must maintain our commitment to international cooperation, humanitarian efforts, and the promotion of democracy and human rights worldwide.
I implore you to reject H.R. 4 and prioritize funding for programs that enhance global security, promote human dignity, and uphold our nation's values at home and abroad. Thank you.
