An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Corruption must be confronted. Inaction is collaboration.

Since January 2025, the second Trump administration has launched an all-out assault on democratic norms, legal accountability, and ethical governance. This is not rhetoric—it is a matter of public record. Within just the first few months of this new term, we have witnessed: • Mass firings of Inspectors General and legal watchdogs across multiple federal agencies • DOJ interference to halt or sabotage ongoing prosecutions tied to Trump and his associates • Retaliation against journalists, civil servants, and veterans groups critical of administration policies • Executive orders targeting dissenters, LGBTQ+ communities, and scientific research Recent examples include the forced resignation of DOJ officials investigating Trump-related cases, and whistleblower suppression at HHS regarding the manipulation of public health data. The EPA has purged scientists who refused to censor climate data, while ICE has again been mobilized against political opponents under dubious legal pretexts. These are not isolated missteps. As of June 2025, watchdogs and legal monitors have already documented over 80 distinct acts of corruption and abuse of power in just six months of this term. This includes: • 24 confirmed retaliatory actions against civil servants and whistleblowers • 17 incidents of political interference in law enforcement or prosecutions • 13 documented abuses of executive orders for unlawful or retaliatory purposes • 26 ongoing violations of federal ethics rules, including Hatch Act violations and use of office for personal gain (Source: CREW, POGO, GAO reports, court filings, inspector general memos) Regardless of party, no American politician should accept this. Corruption on this scale isn’t governance—it’s authoritarianism. If you remain silent, you send a clear signal: that you either approve of this behavior, or you benefit from it. I call on you to: 1. Demand publicly that Congress investigate and impeach President Trump for acts of corruption committed in office since January 2025. 2. Call for immediate restoration of removed oversight mechanisms, including reinstating independent inspectors general, DOJ independence, and whistleblower protections. 3. Make a public statement making clear you do not support, participate in, or benefit from the corruption of this administration. The integrity of our government and the survival of democratic checks and balances depend on your actions now. Refusing to act is a choice—with consequences.
