An open letter to the U.S. House of Representatives
Thank you for defending democracy—please keep the pressure on

Like many of your constituents, I was horrified to learn that Senator Padilla was handcuffed and made to kneel during a meeting where he was simply doing his job: asking a question. His detention was unjust, humiliating, and dangerously symbolic of the Trump administration’s escalating efforts to suppress dissent and sidestep accountability.
This was not just about one senator—it was a message to everyone who dares to challenge authority. That’s why it’s more important than ever that Congress stand united against this kind of authoritarianism.
I know you’re already fighting the good fight. I see your efforts and I’m so grateful for them. Please continue pushing back with every tool you have. Please speak out loudly and clearly. We need voices like yours to remind us that democracy is worth defending, even when it feels like we’re losing ground.
Thank you again for your work and your courage.
