Universal health care coverage would ensure all Americans have access to essential preventive services and treatments for chronic conditions like hypertension. The CDC estimates universal coverage could prevent 63,000 strokes and 95,000 heart disease deaths by 2050 through improved hypertension management alone. Currently, financial barriers prevent many from accessing necessary care - one in three skip medications due to cost. By joining other high-income nations in providing comprehensive coverage, we could alleviate strain on emergency rooms, improve overall population health, and make progress against the chronic disease epidemic affecting 129 million Americans. Securing universal access to quality, affordable care is crucial for effective prevention and disease management.
