With experts confirming that regional energy needs can be safely transitioned without severe price spikes, continuing to endorse a multi-year tunnel project only prolongs unnecessary risk to our Great Lakes. Furthermore, recent accidents—such as the Wisconsin pipeline leak—serve as a sharp reminder that relying on fossil fuel infrastructure under our waters is an unacceptable threat. Please fulfill your duty to uphold the public trust. Stand with Tribal Nations, local businesses, and Michigan residents by formally denying and rescinding all environmental permits for Line 5.
