Demand an End to Book Bans in Dept of Defense (DOD) Schools

The Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is banning books and censoring curriculum in its schools, restricting access to important discussions on history, gender, and social issues. This limits students’ education and violates their right to learn. Removing materials on Black history, immigration, gender identity, and health education sends a dangerous message that certain topics—and certain people—should be erased.
Banning books and curriculum sets a disturbing precedent, one that mirrors authoritarian efforts to control what citizens can read and think. The American Library Association and educational experts agree that such censorship undermines critical thinking and a well-rounded education. Military families, who serve to defend freedom, should not see those freedoms stripped from their children’s classrooms.
I urge you to take immediate action to reverse these restrictions and ensure DoDEA schools provide a full, fact-based education. Our military students deserve to learn without government interference in what they can and cannot read.
