Empty words without action

It's about time the US join the UN in calling for ceasefire. Have we finally recognized Palestine as a State? Will we stop sending bombs to actually make a ceasefire more likely? What actions will back up these words from a body which has no way to enforce these decisions? The blood spilled so far by Israel is on our hands just as much as on the IDF. Our sign-on to ceasefire is pretty pointless if we keep arming the aggressors.
