I am writing to address a matter of utmost urgency regarding House Resolution 894 and the potential complicity it poses in the ongoing situation in Palestine and Israel.
As a concerned constituent from Missouri, I find it imperative to highlight the gravity of the situation and your role in determining our state's stance on this critical issue.
Recent discussions with your office have centered on the pressing need for immediate action to de-escalate the conflict, including calling for a permanent ceasefire, pressuring Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, and refraining from sending additional weapons or funding to the Israeli military.
I stand in solidarity with 60 Congressmembers and two-thirds of American voters who support a permanent ceasefire, as emphasized in the Ceasefire Now resolution, H.Res. 786, led by Rep. Cori Bush.
It is crucial to address the stark reality that many consider the events unfolding in Gaza as genocide against the Palestinian people. The Center for Constitutional Rights has raised concerns about potential legal liability for aiding and abetting genocide through congressional acts. Moreover, a lawsuit has been initiated, asserting complicity in genocide against President Biden. As your constituent, I implore you to take decisive action to prevent genocide and discontinue any U.S. complicity in Israel's violence.
Furthermore, I want to emphasize that your stance on this matter will significantly influence my voting decisions in the upcoming 2024 elections. As a staffer in the Representative's office, I urge you to consider the moral imperative to advocate for a ceasefire, in alignment with the recent walkout of over 100 staffers who refused to be complicit in genocide.
It is my sincere hope that you will take bold steps to address these concerns and stand on the right side of history by voting NO on House Resolution 894.
