An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Fund The USPS!

6 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

In 1792, George Washington signed the Postal Service Act, a piece of legislation that leaders at the time said would help "grow the nation and economy" through the promise of mail delivery. The Postal Service is what helped grow our country as an independent nation, its distribution of newspapers increased literacy rates, and now it has allowed millions of people to vote legally. It is a service of our government, not a capitalistic revenue generator. That is not its purpose and to suggest or expect otherwise is absurd. Trump's threats to defund USPS are a threat, but a destructive one that will disenfranchise your own constituents. We the American people want our USPS funded, not foreign wars and not foreign governments. You work for us and it is your job to uphold the services promised to us by our forefathers and your predecessors. Fund the USPS for the benefit of all.
