I am writing to express my deep alarm regarding the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and its unchecked authority under Elon Musk. As U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan herself pointed out, DOGE is not a federal agency, yet it is operating with sweeping, unilateral power to access the federal government’s inner workings, fire and hire employees, terminate programs, slash budgets, and even influence contracts—all without congressional oversight. This is an egregious violation of the checks and balances that are fundamental to our democracy.
The lack of oversight is not just concerning; it is a crisis. DOGE is making erratic, unpredictable moves that even the courts struggle to make sense of. Chutkan noted that DOGE's actions have been "very unpredictable and scattershot," raising the critical question of whether this chaos is intentional or simply a byproduct of an unaccountable and reckless structure. Either possibility is unacceptable.
As a constituent, I demand to know: What are you doing to stop this? Why is Congress allowing a private citizen to wield unchecked power over the federal government? Where are the hearings, the investigations, the legislative pushback? This is a direct attack on the integrity of our institutions, and history will not look kindly on those who stood by in silence.
Congress must take immediate action to rein in DOGE and restore oversight. I urge you to support any and all measures to hold those responsible accountable, block further power grabs, and protect federal employees from this unconstitutional purge. Your duty is to the American people, not to Elon Musk’s personal empire.
I look forward to your response.
