Instead of taking up the $95B supplemental national security bill last night, House speaker Johnson held another session to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
The measure went to the House, where Speaker Johnson preemptively shot it down, even though his far-right supporters acknowledged that a majority of Reps supported it and that if it did come to the floor, IT WOULD PASS.
The majority of Congress wants this passed. So what’s the issue?
Rhetorical question…we know the answer. Even though DJT’s demands put Speaker Johnson (who wants to keep his job) out of step with the majority of the American people.
“Our base cannot possibly know what’s at stake at the level that any well-briefed U.S. senator should know about what’s at stake if Putin wins,” Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC).”

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has drafted plans to release thousands of immigrants and slash its capacity to hold detainees after the failure of a Senate border bill that would have erased a $700 million budget shortfall, according to four officials at ICE and the Department of Homeland Security.
The bipartisan border bill that Republican lawmakers opposed last week would have provided $6 billion in supplemental funding for ICE enforcement operations. The bill’s demise has led ICE officials to begin circulating an internal proposal to save money by releasing thousands of detainees and cutting detention levels from 38,000 beds to 22,000 — the opposite of the enforcement increases Republicans say they want.”
How is this scenario lessening our border woes? How is this a strategic win for the GOP?
In fact, In today’s election in New York’s Third Congressional District to replace George Santos, voters chose Democrat Tom Suozzi by about 8 points. CNN’s Dana Bash tonight said voters had told her they voted against the Republican candidate because Republicans, on Trump’s orders, killed the bipartisan border deal.
Whoops. I guess it might not be.
Lastly…
DJT is taking over the RNC. Out with Ronna McDaniel, even though she has self-destroyed herself (and even changed her name) at his request, in with the Trump family and sycophants.
This move is likely due in part to McDaniel having said the RNC could not pay Trump’s legal bills once he declared himself a presidential candidate. After his political action committees dropped $50 million on legal fees last year, he could likely use another pocket to pick.
Especially if Friday’s NY fraud decision takes away his own personal honey pot. In that event, the RNC could become a base of operations for DJT if he succeeds in taking it over entirely.
The wins just keep on coming don’t they?
