The President’s Posts Are Now a Paid Product
I am writing as your constituent to raise a conflict-of-interest concern regarding a new financial product announced by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG).
On July 16, 2026, TMTG announced “Truth API,” a paid, licensed data feed that will give institutional clients — including hedge funds and high-frequency trading firms — millisecond-speed access to posts from Truth Social’s ten most-followed accounts, including President Trump’s own. The service launches August 1, 2026. According to Reuters, the Trump family trust owns approximately 41% of TMTG’s shares, meaning the president’s family stands to profit directly from a product built around monetizing the market impact of the president’s own public statements.
My concerns, which are many about this financial product, include the following:
1. Conflict of interest: The president’s family has a direct financial stake in a company that profits when the president’s public statements move markets, creating an incentive misaligned with impartial governance.
2. Unequal market access: Ordinary investors have no comparable ability to purchase speed advantages tied to presidential communications, deepening an already uneven playing field between retail and institutional investors.
3. This appears to be unprecedented. No previous U.S. president is known to have had a financial stake in a company that sold paid, faster access to the president’s own market-moving public statements.
I respectfully request that you:
• Request that the relevant House/Senate ethics committee review whether this arrangement violates conflict-of-interest norms applicable to the executive branch;
• Consider whether existing financial disclosure and blind-trust requirements for presidents need updating to address monetized social-media data products tied to the presidency.
