An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Reject the anti-voter SAVE Act, protect free elections

83 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

The SAVE Act threatens to disenfranchise millions of eligible American voters by imposing unprecedented barriers to voter registration and mail-in voting. Requiring documentary proof of citizenship presented in person would disproportionately impact marginalized communities like voters of color, married women who changed their names, rural voters, voters with disabilities, and many others who may not readily have access to documents like passports or birth certificates. It criminalizes the work of election officials attempting to uphold democracy. This harmful bill undermines the freedom to vote, a sacred right in our democracy. Kansas passed a similar act in 2011 that was already found to be unconstitutional. The SAVE Act is unconstitutional. Reject the SAVE Act and protect the ability of all eligible citizens to participate freely in elections without discriminatory obstacles. Our elections and our nation's democratic integrity depends on expanding access to the ballot, not restricting it through unnecessary and discriminatory legislation like this. Vote no on the SAVE Act.
