An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Fund Eviction Prevention

17 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Fund Eviction Prevention Housing and homelessness issues need extra support and funding from the federal government. Cities and counties are doing all they can to get people off the streets and into homes. However, the dam is leaking, and without funds to prevent eviction, more people will continue to lose their homes. These are people that don't have a housing problem. They are living in a house or apartment. What they don't have is enough in savings to cover dramatic bumps in life. The lower middle class have been squeezed so much there is no savings to fall back on. A job layoff, medical issue, or car accident can have a major financial impact on a household. I have read numerous stories where people have said a one time gift of support was enough to get them back on their feet again. That expense is far less than supporting them while they're on the street and putting them into new housing. Please inject more funding into these programs. The best way to keep people from becoming homelessness is to keep them in their homes.
