Stop Border Wall Construction Now, Especially That Threatening Ancient Rock Art
257 so far! Help us get to 500 signers!
I urge you to use all legislative and legal means to halt all border wall construction in west Texas now.
The 165-mile vehicle barrier and patrol road planned from Big Bend to Lake Amistad runs straight through Seminole Canyon State Park, threatening 27 rock art murals — some older than the pyramids — with construction vibrations, dynamite blasting, and heavy machinery that researchers say will supercharge the natural spalling that already chips away at these painted limestone walls.
These aren't minor historical curiosities.
It’s simply wanton destruction by lowlife leaders under Trump.
Archaeologist Carolyn Boyd has spent 35 years documenting over 250 rock art sites in the Lower Pecos region. She describes them as the oldest-known books in North America — world-class masterworks that required weeks of preparation, scarce materials, and extraordinary skill to create. Even murals the construction doesn't directly touch could be destroyed from hundreds of yards away.
At least 80 known sites would end up on the southern side of the new fence, cutting off researchers and Indigenous communities from sacred ancestral sites.
More broken promises to our indigenous population by the Trump cabal, but we daw it coming.
The Department of Homeland Security has already waived dozens of federal laws that would normally require cultural surveys and damage mitigation.
CBP couldn't even answer basic questions about the wall's impact on the rock art. This is because they are brutes, deplorables and criminals.
This construction must stop before irreplaceable human heritage is gone forever.
The wall is a failure. Stop all further construction. Thank you.
