Oppose Kim Richey for US Dept. of Education Post: She’s a Threat to Civil Rights

Today I’m writing to urge you to oppose Kim Richey as assistant secretary for Civil Rights at the US Department of Education. She’s yet another unqualified nominee deliberately picked to be a threat to the very idea of equality in education.
I agree with the many civil rights groups opposing Kim Richey's confirmation because they raise valid concerns about her ability.
It’s highly unlikely that she will enforce civil rights laws and protect educational opportunities for all students, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, disability status, or other protected characteristics.
The danger here is clear: Richey has taken public stances against critical race theory and suggested restricting accommodations for transgender students, which calls into question her commitment to upholding civil rights protections in education.
Given that the vital role of the Office for Civil Rights is investigating discrimination complaints, providing guidance on legal obligations, and collecting data on equal educational access, it is imperative that the Assistant Secretary firmly upholds federal nondiscrimination laws.
None of the appointees to the Department of Justice, Housing and Urban Development, or Education have shown any inclination except to destroy and degrade these institutions. Kim Richey would be the same.
Richey's record indicates she will prioritize an ideological agenda over robust and impartial civil rights enforcement.
I urge you to oppose Richey's nomination to ensure the Department of Education fulfills its responsibility to protect students from unlawful discrimination by people exactly like her. Thank you.
