I was absolutely disgusted to hear Donald Trump thanking Sen Blackburn and Gov Lee for attending the signing ceremony for his Exec. Order banning transgender females from participation in women’s sports. 1.) This EO appears to me to be a violation of the US Constitution. 2.) Trump’s language in his diatribe portrayed transgender females as harming or beating up female competitors. His statements were obnoxious, untrue, and unnecessarily mean spirited when there is NO proof of any such circumstances in the United States. 3.) The staging of this event with the convicted felon, adjudicated sexual abuser, and man who’s bragged about preferring them young, surrounded by young girls who appeared to be between the ages of 7-12 was appalling, disgusting and abhorrent. With this criminal record it is likely Trump couldn’t work in a child care facility. 4.) It is likely that most of the girls in this group don’t know what a transgender female is and it’s almost certain that none of them have experienced athletic competition that might have involved a transgender female. I don’t believe you have ever met with or otherwise talked with a transgender female who is a student in TN, let alone one who wants to compete or has competed in girls athletics. If I’m wrong, prove it. I don’t believe you are capable of meeting with a trans female to hear how this new EO or TN’s law will affect their life. You all claim to be Christian, but your actions certainly don’t bear out any adherence to Christian teachings. I am not aware of any situation in TN involving a transgender female athlete that resulted in physical harm to a Cis gender female athlete. Do you have examples? Would you share them with Tennesseans to help clarify your stance on this issue? Last but not least, why are you flying off to DC at taxpayer expense to bolster your standing with Donald Trump? Senator Blackburn and Rep Ogles may have already been there. Governor Lee, I believe you should repay any travel expenses to the State treasury. You are entitled to your own beliefs and feelings about transgender men and women. But you are not entitled to inflict your prejudicial beliefs on the citizens of TN. And neither is Trump entitled to do the same to US citizens, especially when such actions appear to violate the US Constitution.
