Elon Musk violated the privacy rights of millions of Americans when his unelected “DOGE” forced their way into the Department of Education. Without consent, his team gained administrator access to countless private records, including financial aid and academic records, all of which contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
The Department of Education keeps records as far back as kindergarten, meaning this privacy breach impacts nearly every person in this state. Let me emphasize: an unelected billionaire just stole private data from nearly every single one of your constituents. It likely is not the first or last time he’ll do so.
We need our state officials to make themselves clear: DOGE is not welcome here. I demand a clear public statement condemning the DOGE’s existence and actions. I expect you to refuse to cooperate with any DOGE actions. Actively block Musk where possible. Launch an investigation of the DOGE on behalf of the thousands of students in our public schools and universities.
If you won’t protect our private data and our rights, come next election, I won’t protect your campaign funds, or your seat.
