Pollution Is A Tax Increase. Make Polluters Pay the REAL Cost of Production!
5 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!
Gutting the environmental protections that have been the purview of the Environmental Protection Agency for decades is a tax on the American people. Those with lower incomes pay the highest tax.
Allowing a corporation to pollute our air and water essentially shifts the cost of production from the corporation to those US residents unlucky enough to live in the area affected by their effluents. The real cost of production of anything manufactured should be borne by the manufacturer — not those who cannot afford to move out of their impact zone.
EPA regulations seem to be easy to roll back, but extremely difficult to put in place. Air pollution is universally recognized as harmful to human health, and its harm is unevenly distributed as it is more severe in low income and disadvantaged areas, such as Cancer Alley in Louisiana.
These rollbacks will disproportionately affect residents of red states. Help them understand that their elected officials are offering up their lives on the altar of corporate profits. Please fight these changes with all the measures at your disposal. No more business as usual.
Protect our air and water from this coup.
