Urgent: Condemn the White House's Violation of Press Freedom

I’m beyond outraged that the White House is now hand-picking which reporters can even be in the room. First, they barred an AP reporter from an Oval Office event because AP refused to comply with their ridiculous demand to call the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.” Now, they’re outright deciding who gets access at all. This isn’t just an attack on the press—it’s an attack on the First Amendment, and it should concern every American, no matter their party.
The press is not supposed to be a government PR team. When an administration starts deciding which reporters are “acceptable,” it stops being about news and starts being about control. This is a dangerous road to go down. If the White House can punish journalists for doing their jobs, what’s next? Only allowing coverage from outlets that repeat exactly what they’re told? That’s not democracy. That’s propaganda.
I expect you to take a stand against this blatant power grab:
1. Call this out for what it is—an attack on press freedom.
2. Support any congressional efforts to investigate this abuse of power.
3. Make it clear that no administration, Republican or Democrat, gets to dictate which reporters are allowed to do their jobs.
This isn’t about politics. It’s about the kind of country we want to live in. If you let this slide, you’re telling the American people that press freedom only matters when it’s convenient. I hope to see you speak out, the world is watching.
