Oppose Trump’s Federal Grants & Loans Freeze

It is my understanding that Trump’s memo freezing all federal grants and loans is illegal. The 'order' violates the Impoundment Act of 1974, which created procedures to prevent a president from unilaterally substituting his or her own funding decisions for those of Congress. The money Trump is trying to withhold—which includes funding for childcare, housing, police officers, opioid addiction treatment, disaster relief, and more—has already been appropriated. The Trump administration doesn’t have the authority to freeze it. Tell him 'no', and do everything within your authority to make certain the funding continues as appropriated.
