An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Halt deportations to warzones and protect human rights

The continued deportation of individuals to regions plagued by violence and instability is an unconscionable violation of human rights. Sending individuals, even those without legal status, to South Sudan where intense armed conflict persists represents a reckless disregard for their wellbeing and safety. No one should be forcibly returned to areas where their lives are endangered by war, famine, or oppression. As a nation founded on principles of freedom and human dignity, we must uphold our moral obligation to protect vulnerable populations rather than subjecting them to further trauma. This callous policy undermines America's values and humanitarian commitments. I urge an immediate cessation of deportations to warzones and failed states until adequate safeguards ensuring the security of deportees can be implemented.
