Support SB 79: Legalize more homes near transit!

As a resident of your district and a constituent, I urge you to vote YES on SB 79 (Wiener), which will help address housing affordability by increasing the supply of homes near transit. There's been a lot of misinformation spread by opponents of SB 79. I'm writing to urge you to reject those false claims and instead support this important bill that will go a long way in tackling our state's housing shortage and affordability crisis. One of the number one things California can do to address our joint housing and crises is legalize more multi-family housing near transit. Transit-oriented development brings down housing costs near transit by substantially increasing the supply of available homes, and also reduces the pollution that causes climate change by increasing public transit use and stability. SB 79 will make it faster and easier to build multi-family housing near qualifying transit stops, like certain train stations and bus rapid transit lines running in their own right of way, by making it legal for more homes to be built in these areas. SB 79 will help us meet our housing needs with smart and sustainable development near public transit – while also allowing the state to make better use of state and local investments in our transit systems, greater use of which are key to meeting our climate goals. Please vote YES on SB 79.
