Demand Immediate Reopening of Rafah Crossing and Humanitarian Aid Access to Gaza

Seven Palestinian children have frozen to death in Gaza this winter. Under torrential rains and bitterly cold windstorms, Israel has blocked blankets, tents, clothing, food, and rebuilding machinery that could keep Palestinians alive. This preventable loss of life demands immediate congressional action.
Israel was required to reopen the Rafah crossing in both directions as part of the ceasefire deal in October. Nearly 100 days later, Israel has blocked this critical lifeline for entry and exit from Gaza while banning 37 aid organizations from the territory. Reports indicate that U.S. pressure might finally force Israel to open the crossing, making this a pivotal moment for congressional advocacy.
As Israel's largest military funder, the United States has direct leverage to ensure humanitarian aid access and end the killing of Palestinians. Our tax dollars provide the military support that enables these policies. Congress must use that leverage now.
I urge you to take three specific actions. First, publicly advocate for the immediate reopening of the Rafah crossing in both directions as required under the ceasefire agreement. Second, demand that Israel allow all humanitarian aid to enter Gaza without restriction, including the essential winter supplies currently being blocked. Third, support and pass the Block the Bombs Act, H.R. 3565, to stop arming Israel until these humanitarian violations end.
Children are freezing to death while aid sits blocked at the border. The situation is urgent and requires immediate congressional pressure. I expect you to speak up now and use every tool available to ensure humanitarian aid reaches Gaza and the Rafah crossing reopens immediately. Your constituents are watching how you respond to this crisis.
