HB9874 - Discriminatory Legislation Harming Transgender Youth This proposed bill unjustly denies gender-affirming care to transgender minors under the guise of protection. The factual reality is that puberty blockers, hormone therapy, and transition-related procedures are evidence-based, potentially life-saving medical interventions recommended by major professional organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Endocrine Society. Criminalization of such vital health services constitutes a violation of transgender youth's fundamental rights to access appropriate medical care free from government overreach or ideological intrusion. Furthermore, the stipulation prohibiting public funds from supporting any organizations that provide trans health services to minors represents an unacceptable assault on bodily autonomy and an unjustifiable infringement on the rights of parents and medical professionals to make informed decisions in the best interests of their children and patients. This legislation promotes discrimination against a vulnerable population and flies in the face of scientific consensus. In the interest of upholding equality, human rights, and evidence-based policymaking, I urge the rejection of this harmful and unethical proposal in its entirety. Transgender youth deserve access to the same standard of care as their cisgender peers without facing criminalization or obstacles erected by the government. Let medical decisions remain between doctors, parents, and patients.
