Cages and Cruelty in the Swamp. End Alligator Alcatraz Now!

The new “Alligator Alcatraz” detention center in the Everglades is a moral stain on our nation. Built in under two weeks at a cost of $450 million per year, it houses nearly 900 detainees, many without criminal convictions, in chain-link cages surrounded by alligators. Conditions are inhumane, with inadequate food, sanitation, and medical care, leading to reports of worms in meals and untreated illnesses. This facility not only violates due process but also disrespects the dignity of every person in U.S. custody.
President Trump has called deportation the “only way out” and joked about teaching detainees to escape from alligators. While officials defend it as a model for enforcement, human rights advocates liken it to a concentration camp. We demand that Congress investigate this facility and pass legislation to ensure humane treatment, legal representation, and family contact for detainees. Taxpayer money should not fund such dehumanization. This is not America, and we will not stand for this. Take action now.
