Enough is Enough; Our Democratic Republic Needs You to Stand Up for What’s Right

I’m writing to you not just as your constituent in Moore, Oklahoma, but as an American who has spent a lifetime fighting to rise above the circumstances I was born into. I came from poverty and abuse, and I worked relentlessly to give my seven children a life filled with hope, stability, and opportunity. I’m watching that hope crumble in their eyes as today’s politics cast a long shadow over their future. Senator Cory Booker’s powerful 25+ hour speech on the Senate floor was a moment of courage — the kind of courage we need from every elected official who still values our Constitution and the people it’s meant to protect. It was a call not to arms, but to conscience. Like he said, it’s no longer “about right or left… but about right or wrong”. Frighteningly, this administration has crossed far too many lines. They have became brazen and carefree in their violations of the constitution and the law and order that Americans hold dear. Today especially, it is not the time to simply tow the party line or vote with the majority. When those lines veer so far from moral and ethical grounding that it threatens our democracy itself, it is time — past time — to say enough is enough. I am asking you to take a bold and unwavering stand against the forces of autocracy, oligarchy, and fascism that are gaining ground in plain sight. Stand against the erosion of constitutional principles. Stand against cruelty disguised as policy. And do stand up, even when it’s hard, unpopular, or politically inconvenient. Please, don’t let fear, silence, or loyalty to party outweigh your loyalty to our country. We are watching. We are hoping. And we need you standing on the side of what is right, just, and etched in history by the blood and tears of patriots who came before us, now more than ever. “But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.” - 2 Thessalonians 3:13
