Publicly support, cosponsor & vote YES to Sen. Sanders Moratorium on data centers. Senator Bernie Sanders has proposed a nationwide moratorium on the construction of AI data centers to address concerns about their rapid growth, potential job losses, and environmental impacts. According to a recent article published by CNN, data centers consume huge amounts of energy, water, and are creating “heat islands” that warm the land around them by up to 16 degrees Fahrenheit. It is my understanding that data centers create more temporary construction jobs during their building phase, while they typically support fewer permanent operational jobs. I believe there needs to be educated discussions and further research about if the benefits outweigh the risks. Publicly support, cosponsor & vote YES to Sen. Sanders Moratorium on data centers.
