Electoral Reform Action for New Jersey

12 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

Our electoral process in New Jersey has led to a situation where citizens may lack confidence in their government. Voter participation is unacceptably low. Voters are frustrated with the lack of electoral competition and few candidate choices. This leads voters to conclude that voting is pointless because "nothing ever changes." You can both increase your standing with voters and rebuild citizen interest and confidence in New Jersey government by supporting electoral reform. 1. Replace the current closed party primary elections, where only registered party voters may vote, with a single nonpartisan primary where all candidates are free to run and all voters are welcome to vote. The top 4 vote-getters would run in the general election. 2. Replace the current plurality system of elections with Ranked Choice Voting in the general election to ensure a majority win and eliminate spoiler candidate concerns. Let's make New Jersey a place where people trust and have confidence in their government. That starts with more competition in the marketplace of ideas. Please sponsor and announce your support for a nonpartisan top 4 primary election and Ranked Choice Voting in New Jersey’s general elections.
