You aren't doing enough. Meet this moment!

It has become apparent to me that the Democratic Party was woefully underprepared for a second Trump Administration, despite spending most of its time campaigning about the dangers of that very presidency which we now find ourselves in. Donald Trump and Elon Musk are taking a sledgehammer to federal agencies, illegally cutting funding and trying to completely end congressionally established agencies. ICE Raids are happening in schools and businesses, the list goes on. Meanwhile on January 23 Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill., told Semafor. “This is brand new.” And “Give us a little time”. And House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries saying “We’re not going to swing at every pitch. We’re going to swing at the ones that matter for the American people.” and holding press conferences with charts and graphs. It’s more like “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” -Wayne Gretzky. And Gavin Newsom is launching a podcast, inviting MAGA personalities. With all due respect, this is inadequate. We are in an unprecedented moment and Democrats are not meeting it. These leaders are out of touch with Americans and will send this country straight into fascist autocratic rule if they continue down this path. The solution is not to try and convince MAGA. The solution is to speak to ALL Americans about how the Trump administration impacts their daily lives. Moving more to the center-right is not going to move the needle. Kamala Harris attempted this, inviting Republicans into the fray and talking about how she owned a Glock. This was a spectacular failure, and it will fail again. People simply did not turn out and vote. Yet you continue to text me and ask for my money as if this is business as usual “Well we’ll try again in 2 years” unless you meet this moment, you will not win – and we may never regain our democracy as we know it. I realize you are limited in what we can do legislatively, but that does not mean we should wait until the mid-terms to do something. So, I ask you: Meet this moment. - Establish daily briefings where you tell the American people what is happening. Treat it like the COVID pandemic where governors and other officials reported daily on the status. - Rotate speakers like Pete Buttigieg, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the next generation of leadership. Tell Americans what they can do to help. - Hold town halls across the country in red and blue areas. Listen to, and broadcast far and wide the impact this administration is having on everyday Americans. Advertise them and fill large venues. Donald Trump thrives on attention. Control the narrative. Take it from him, cover everything he is doing and tell us how WE can help. Talk to us like Americans, not as Democrats and Republicans. Be leaders for ALL the people. Rise to the occasion, respond to the moment with what it requires. Stand up and fight, every second of every day. And tell US how to join you to defend this great country.
