Congress Must End Lawfare and Enforce Equal Justice Under the Law

I am writing to demand that Congress reclaim its oversight authority over the Department of Justice and end the use of law enforcement and federally funded entities as tools of political repression. The Constitution guarantees due process and equal protection under the law. Justice cannot be selective, politicized, or contingent on wealth, rank, or proximity to power. Yet the DOJ has increasingly been used to pursue lawfare against some while shielding others from accountability. As you read this, federal agencies such as ICE and Customs and Border Protection have been transformed into violent militarized forces operating among civilian populations. Tens of thousands have been detained without due process, families have been destroyed, individuals have been brutalized, and lives have been taken. When government officers or government-funded groups use violence, intimidation, and coercion against civilian population, they meet the functional definition of domestic terrorism. This is not law enforcement. It is oppression. Congress must abolish ICE, rein in DHS and DOJ, and prohibit the use of federal officers as militarized police forces against civilians. Oversight mechanisms must have real consequences, including funding restrictions and statutory limits. Additionally, Congress must force the full release of the remaining Epstein files and ensure that investigations and prosecutions proceed without obstruction. No individual—regardless of status, office, or influence—is above the law. If Congress does not act, executive abuse of the justice system will continue to expand—undermining public trust and the rule of law itself.
