An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Oppose the SAVE Act!

3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I strongly oppose the SAVE Act, House Bill 22, and ask that you do the same. The SAVE Act would require documentary proof of American citizenship to register to vote. For many Americans, that's a birth certificate — but should an applicant use a birth certificate to prove citizenship, they must present it alongside a government-issued photo ID. If the documents don't match, applicants may have to produce additional documentation, which could make it more difficult to vote for married women and other people who undergo legal name changes. This burden to vote is discriminatory and should be opposed. Thank you for voting NO should this legislation come to the floor of the US House or the US Senate.
